Since the end of last year, we are all facing a big nightmare which is due to the subprime mortgage. Now our economy is getting worse and worse, and the real money that we can spend is getting less and less too. So the new attitude of purchasing is not being luxurious but being thriftiness.
During the recession, people need to learn how to look after to their money. Some expenses are unavoidable, for example the cost of food or commodities. Therefore, buying things at the hypermarket where stores various products from many different countries, will be a good idea! We all know that the price of goods that we buy is much higher than its cost of production. The reason of it is the price of each goods will be added up when it is resold to another, and the products in hypermarket are resold only one time. So the price will be much lower! Instead of buying goods from the shops we can jus buy them at the hypermarket directly. Also, the hypermarkets always give some discounts to keep the consumers back, like buying two and getting one free or release some coupons by flyers. Hypermarkets can be found in most of the countries easily; in Singapore we can see Carrefour. (http://www.carrefourksa.com/) Furthermore, sometimes they also offer the service, which is to return or to change the product between 90 days if the product is spoiled. There are lots of advantages for buying commodities at the hypermarket.
For most of companies, to survive during the recession the most important thing is to cut down the cost of production. I asked for my father’s opinions and he said that as the owner of the company he would not fire anyone if it were not necessary. So now the method, which his company is using, is stop employing new workers. When some workers quit their jobs the company will survey carefully at the needs of new employments. If the positions left are not urgently needed they would just ask others who are working on the similar area to cover their works. For example, salesmen who spend lots of time on running outside the company can cover the delivery clerks’ job. Another tip is stop pushing new product at the period of economy recession. It is simply because the money that consumers will spend is less, although we provide a new product to the market it may not attracts people to buy.
Now is the hard time for every one, but if we can learn how to spend our money wisely and how to save money. We still can come over the winter of the economy and enjoy our life
Thanks for sharing with us great tips how companies like your try to ride through the recession without firing workers! Perhaps a reason why some people would not go hypermart is that it is far from their homes. You can shop all at one go, but then you cannot take the bus! So maybe people shop at a place near their home, incurring higher prices but lower transport cost.
